Founder Profile – Dr. Shu Claire Liu
Dr. Shu Claire Liu, DMA, is a concert pianist, educator, and arts organizer with extensive international experience across Asia and North America. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Literature from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a Master of Music from the Manhattan School of Music, and a Bachelor of Music from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.
Dr. Liu has appeared in solo performances at venues such as Carnegie Hall (New York), the Shanghai Expo, and major concert halls in the United States, China, and Europe.
She was also invited by the Chinese Embassy in the United States to serve as a jury member for the Youzi Scholarship (Arts Category), a cultural and educational program recognizing outstanding youth in the arts. Through this role, Dr. Liu contributed to promoting artistic excellence and cross-cultural understanding among young artists in the Chinese-American community.
Her academic and artistic work centers on cross-cultural interpretation, inclusive pedagogy, and the social impact of music as a universal language. Her doctoral dissertation, A Bach phenomenon in Shanghai: The implications of Zhu Xiaomei's performance of Bach's Goldberg Variations in 2014, explores how Chinese-born French pianist Zhu Xiaomei’s interpretations of Bach’s Goldberg Variations embody a dialogue between Eastern philosophy and Western musical thought, illustrating how art can cultivate empathy, balance, and intercultural understanding—values that continue to shape her vision for Kunst Harmonie as a platform connecting artistic excellence with global harmony and humanistic growth.
